How to Start your Swedish Genealogy Research

If you follow me on Instagram, you'll know I just wrapped up my months' long series on Swedish genealogy.

I love grouping my genealogy tutorials into regional focuses so I can guide you through multiple resources as you focus on a specific line of your ancestors.

For the Swedish series, I largely focused on the Household Examination Records, or husförhörslängder, which really are just the best record set a genealogist could ever ask for.

If you're ready to jumpstart your Swedish genealogy, you can catch up on all the resources I shared over the last few months here:

I also shared some tutorials on using a Swedish mapping tool - Kartbild - alongside your research to help you visualize what all you've been learning in the Household Examination Records.

This video provides an introduction to Kartbild:

This video explains how you can use Kartbild to find specific Swedish localities listed in the Household Examination Records that don't show up on Google Maps:

So that's it! Those are all the resources I shared for this latest series on Swedish genealogy. I'm holding a poll over on Instagram about what sort of genealogy we should explore next. So far Quebecois is winning, but if you have any other suggestions, reply to this email and let me know!

If you love the tips I give you, consider giving me some back! It will help me continue to develop the educational content I love sharing with you.
